Project Management
Sound project management is of critical importance to the success of any IT project, yet research suggests that of the estimated 70% IT of projects that fail, the vast majority of these failures are attributable to poor project management. No, that is not a typo – an estimated 70% of IT projects either:
- Run significantly over budget,
- Run significantly over time,
- Fail to deliver all required functionality and/or benefits, or
- Fail to complete at all.
Without sound project management processes and procedures and without competent, motivated project management staff it is very unlikely that even the most straightforward project will end in success.
FFF Project Management services involve the provision of professional, experienced project managers as well as tested and proven project management methodologies.
We are able to provide Project Management services either on an ad-hoc or ongoing basis and for any type of IT project (regardless of length or complexity)
Ad-hoc Project Management services are typically provided for fixed periods of time, such as when the customer requires assistance with just one project, for example.
Ongoing Project Management services are provided to larger customers who typically have a steady stream of project requirements on an ongoing basis. These services can include the provision of project management resources to work as part of your project office or we can outsource the provision of the entire project office on your behalf.
During each Project Management engagement we will:
- Implement the appropriate level of project management process and methodology for the size and complexity of the given project (using either your project management methodologies or ours.)
- Properly define the scope and cost of the project and help you to make an informed decision on whether to proceed with it or not.
- Manage the project budget on an ongoing basis.
- Implement stringent scope controls to prevent scope creep and to ensure that all scope changes follow acceptable change control procedures.
- Help you to confirm that your project requirements are properly defined.
- Formulate a detailed project plan that includes timeframes and deliverables that are realistically achievable.
- Identify success and completion criteria and agree these with the appropriate members of your organisation.
- Formulate a detailed risk identification and mitigation plan.
- Ensure that the project is properly understood by the appropriate people within your organisation and that the necessary commitment to proceed (from project sponsors and other approvers) is obtained before the project commences.
- Help you gain the necessary level of involvement from your business units for the project to proceed.
- Provide regular status reports to you throughout the course of the project.
- Manage the project through to completion and provide full reporting to you on the projects outcome.
For customers who choose to outsource their entire project office to FFF we will also:
- Appoint an experienced Programme Manager who will:
- Perform ongoing management of the project office
- Provide regular project office reporting
- Prioritise projects in conjunction with the customer and assign project resources accordingly
- Provide an escalation point for project management-related issues
- Provide appropriate levels of project administrative staff and processes
